Independent of what position you might take with respect to absentee voting, the fact is that it is very much available to the voters of Greenhills, through the Hamilton County Board of Elections. The election last fall demonstrated the fact that the availability of an absentee ballot is becoming a viable choice for voters in the area (see chart at left). In addition, the party affiliation of absentee voters does not skew strongly in one direction or the other, with 36% of absentee voters registered as Republicans, 38% as independents, and 26% as Democrats.
The rules are posted on the Hamilton County Board of Elections website, and the form requesting absentee ballots can be downloaded from there as well. the rules for submission of the application are fairly flexible, requiring that for an application to be accepted by mail, the application "must be received by the board of elections by noon on the third day before the election." The ballot must be postmarked "no later than the day before Election Day and received by your board of elections no later than 10 days after the election."
Please consider the absentee ballot as an option for this coming fall's election. And act now to download your application and get your vote in.
